The Pretty and the Messy...
I was outside BBQing and discovered that we have a robin's nest in one of our flowering Elders'. Robins make such a neat little compact nest. I was hoping I could get pics of the little robins...I thought she was sitting on eggs...but to my surprise...little baby robins, not very old. It looks like she has 3 for sure...only two smiled for the camera!
Magpies, on the other hand, are pretty messy...twigs are scattered everywhere all the way down the spruce tree...their nest is pretty high up and so it is hard to get a clear view...but it is a very large nest. Sadly, they lost a baby...he was either nudged or tried to fly...poor thing. They may come back to nest there again next year.
Have a great week everyone!
Nancy

Great pictures of the tiny birds. It will be interesting to see how they change in a week.

Hi Nancy,
What a lovely photo of the nest with tiny baby birds - how very exciting to watch them grow.
Your pillow you made is very pretty.
Hugs
Carolyn
Thanks so much Lorrie and Carolyn. I can't wait to get up there again this weekend to see how they are doing.
Thank-you Carolyn for your kind comment on the pillow.

Wow Nancy ! They are so very tiny . . . it is amazing they survive (so small and bald!). I bet they grow their feathers quickly. How cute!

p.s I commented on another blog yesterday . . . baby birds in a Fern plant . .. you would like those pictures. I will have to remember who I visited LOL. I'll let you know, when I remember, Karen.
Those baby birdies are so sweet! They look a little cold though without many feathers to cover themselves.
A nest fell from one of our trees a couple of weeks back. No birdies to be found. It must have been an old one the wind knocked down. I put it at the base of one of my flower pots and put a tiny concrete bird in it. The simplest things make me smile.
Another thing that makes me smile is all the lovely notes you leave on my blog. Thank you. You are a blessing.
Warmest and biggest bear hugs,
Aleta
Ah, Thank-you Aleta...you are welcome! You are the best!
