Snow, Snow and More Snow...

Hi Everyone...
I took a few pics this afternoon...it is so snowy and soooo cold here right now...the temperature today was a "balmy" -23C!! That was the high and with the windchill factored in, it felt like -30C! Yikes!! The picture below was taken right outside my front door...the little footprints in the snow are the rabbits...they love one of my evergreen bushes.

The bird pics are of a Yellow-Shafted Northern Flicker...this bird, along with a little Downy Woodpecker have joined my gang of birds at the feeders over the last 3 weeks.

I was so surprised to see the Flicker...I am sure we'll see more of him now that he knows where the food is...The pics were taken through my kitchen window...he is a little skiddish and so I can't get close to him yet.

Have a great weekend!
Nancy

Stay warm Nancy ~ the snow looks so soft and beautiful.

The birds would be grateful for you providing them with seed. They are beautiful birds.

We have mucho snow here too, Nancy, and it's is so beautiful. I have Northern Flickers, almost daily, and they love suet. I just put out five new suets for the wood peckers. (Of course, Flickers are wood peckers too.)

And, we have many hummingbirds. I have to make sure their nectar is not frozen throughout the day. Today I went out frequently to wipe the snow off of their feeder. Your pictures are amazing!

Thank-you Carolyn and Christine.
Thank-you for letting me know about the suet...I will have to put some out. Oh, I wish we had little hummingbirds. I have great pictures of them from our summer holiday...but it is a little too chilly here for them.

Well, if we were to have winters like this always, I think our hummingbirds would leave too. It's way amazing out here, the snow. I grew up here and we only ever had a week of snow in January, if we were lucky. The Portland news stations are only reporting the area snow news. What a trip! This family is postponing Christmas until Saturday the 27th.

Thank you again, Nancy, for your lovely blog posts.
