Hello...
We are having beautiful weather here in Calgary right now. My grandson is enjoying a fishing day camp this week...how fortunate that the weather has cooperated! He isn't catching many fish, but he is having a lot of fun!
We have been away visiting my husband's family. On our way back, we stopped at one of our favorite places...and wonderful Country Inn in Savona, BC. Our friends, Margaret and Donn own this beautiful spot on Kamloops Lake. It was so nice to relax and enjoy the serenity of the grounds and the hospitality. I took my spinning wheel with me and so I was able to take it out onto the balcony and enjoy the views while spinning.
While there, we were also able to take advantage of the fresh apricots on the trees. I picked as many as I thought I would need to make apricot jams and a jelly this year. The jelly is hubby's favorite right now. I don't use pectin and so I cook it a little longer to achieve the right consistency. I will post the recipe over the weekend.
I have also been taking classes online over at Artful Gathering. I had Matthew involved in Nancy Malay's class. We kind of got to the point of covering our birds with clay...and haven't finished them yet...hopefully soon. I have also done some painting. I love painting (watercolours), but I haven't sat down to do any for a long time until this class. It got the juices flowing again. Maybe I will paint more this year. As an artist, I struggle with focusing on just one thing...I want to do everything! I don't think I'm alone...many artists struggle with that...but focus is what I must do to achieve my goals.
Here are a few pics from the past few weeks...

Dear Nancy,

Loved seeing some photos of how your past week has been.
the breakfast looks so healthy and delicious and how wonderful fresh apricots are picked from the tree.
They make the most scrumptious jam.
Must have been great spinning out on the deck and enjoying the view.
So neat that you and Matt are taking classes - love the way he is skillfully applying the gesso.
also love your pear paintings.
Thanks for visiting me and wishing you a happy weekend
hugs
Carolyn
