The Babies Have Left The Nest...
Hi Everyone...
I am just posting an update on the little Robin Family I have been watching...the first pics I took were on July 2nd...the babies were probably 2 days old...and now, less than 2 weeks later, they have left the nest! I missed the first one leaving...he must have left early this morning...I didn't get outside until just after 8:00am...I noticed the Mom around...and then I spotted the 2nd little one in the tree (1st Pic)...about 4 ft from where I was on the deck...I snapped a few pics...and off he/she went. I decided to try to get closer to the nest to photograph the last two in the nest...
As soon as I got up there, the 3rd one flew out and down to the ground (2nd Pic)...I grabbed the camera and took a few shots.
Then, up the ladder to see the last one...I pulled the branch down and off he went...I got some really great shots of this little guy...he wasn't in too much of a hurry to leave.
And then there were none!
I have to say...the Mom and Dad were very tolerant of me taking photos...the nest was only about 8 ft out(& 10ft up) from my deck and, aside from the early posts of pics taken in the nest when they were just a few days old, all of my shots were taken from there. The parents would get within a few feet of me and just pose for the camera...I will miss this little family. They were such fun to watch! Enjoy!
Have a great week!
Nancy

You are welcome, Carolyn. I had such a great time watching them. I hope a new family will come back to the nest next year.

Wow! gone so soon (and we humans think our babies grow up too fast LOL). Maybe they will come back and visit. They seem to like you and your camera :)
You are such a good photographer, These birds are so after my own heart. I even named my first memorable doll, way back when I was but seven years old, Robin. I still have her.
I so love robins. Yours are incredible!

Thank-you so much Christine...I have always loved taking pictures...nature is so wondrous and being able to capture special moments in nature is an honor. I cherish the time I spend in the vast outdoors. I love the robins too...!!
I am so glad you still have your doll...she has a special place in your heart.
